Hi there,

So I have some news for you.

I have decided to leave GoDaddy. My last day is April 28.

GoDaddy acquired my company, DNAcademy, last year and it is now 100% integrated as GoDaddy Domain Academy. The entire course and toolset is rebuilt from the ground-up and I'm excited about a couple of new tools we have in development.

The GoDaddy employees in the Domains division are smart, hard working, and care about their customers. I'll miss working with them.

I've been in and out of retirement since 2008 and am excited to spend the summer playing pickleball and deep-diving into the exciting world of artificial intelligence.

If that interests you, stay tuned! 🤖

But don't worry, I'm still a domain investor first and foremost, and I look forward to staying involved in the industry, on Clubhouse, and Zoom socials.

And watch out: there will be another bidder in the hot GoDaddy Auctions starting in May! 🚀

Here are my top 5️⃣-for-Friday domain tweets from this week.

Have a great weekend, my friend!

#1️⃣ Small > Medium > Large

Celebrate your small domain name sales.

They will lead to medium domain name sales.

Which will lead to large domain name sales.

We all start on square one.

Learn how to buy domain names that others want, but not risk too much.

Prove out our model, then move-up in price or scale-up in quantity.

Nothing wrong with either path.

And either way, we're likely to move-up in price too.

#2️⃣ NameBio is worth a subscription
Michael Cyger
Blockbuster auction at GoDaddy yesterday: $202K for airplay .com

If you ever want to have @NameBio email you sales that match your criteria — like this one: single words in .com — just:

1. Save your search
2. A modal will pop up and ask how often to email you

This requires a paid account ($10/mo min) but is well worth it.

And, yes, airplay is a single word in the dictionary: "broadcasting time devoted to a particular record, performer, or musical genre."

Without domain name sales information, domain name investing is more difficult.

If you have the means, I suggest you support NameBio with a subscription.

One of the benefits is these emails, which I love getting in my inbox.

Because who has time to check a website daily?

(Check the yearly pricing for 50% off. I have no affiliation nor receive no benefit from recommending.)

#3️⃣ Stop mediocrity

Michael Cyger
If you want to be a great domain name investor

You need to commit to it

Without commitment, you are destined to mediocrity

And who wants to be mediocre?

Commit to excellence if it's important to you.

#4️⃣ Never too late

Michael Cyger
The best time to start domain name investing was 30 years ago.

The second best time is today.

Every year I'm amazed at the new investors that are succeeding in domain name investing.

Tony. Busy Father. Leanne.

And many, many more.

It would have been great to hand register single words in .com 30 years ago.

It's also great to buy two word .coms before everyone else today.

#5️⃣ Slow start for 1/2 of investors

How were you domain name sales for the first quarter (Jan - Mar) of 2023?

This week's poll

The first quarter of 2023 was slow for a majority of respondents in this week's poll.

Interestingly, a decent percentage were higher or about what they expected.

🥳️ Takes careful coordination
Michael Cyger
Domain investors working between their spreadsheet, Afternic and Sedo.

(Click through to view the video of this tweet — it's hilarious.)

Don't forget to update your ****AI.com price in Sedo.

Don't list your landing page price higher than in Afternic.

Don't forget to remove your pricing from marketplaces when in negotiations.

It's a lot of hard work.

Hopefully someone will solve this soon.
