The New Year’s Day Polar Bear Plunge — see the Photo of the Week below — was fantastic again this year. If you’d like to relive (or experience) it, there’s a quick video on Instagram and YouTube.
While there, please give us a follow to stay up to date on island happenings.
Coming up this weekend is one of Bainbridge Island’s most beloved traditions: the annual Mochi Tsuki celebration. For more than 30 years, this community event has brought friends and families together to welcome good fortune in the New Year.
A few years back, I got the chance to swing the “kine” — the wooden mallet used to pound the mochi. It was a blast, and a great reminder of how much fun this event is for all ages.
I hope the new year is off to a wonderful start for you and your family. And with any luck, the sun might even make an appearance soon. π€
